New Cashier - Feet Hurting - HELP!?

Hi Everyone

I recently started a new job as a Cashier at a grocery store. At the end of the day, my feet kill me to the point of almost crying. I have a good (70+ dollar) pair of Nike shoes, Dr Scholls massaging gel insoles) So I don%26#039;t think it it is the shoes - Are there any cashiers out there who have been doing it a long time and can help me? Even overnight, they continue to hurt from day to day - even 8 hours off them at night does not help. It is making me want to quit my job, which I can%26#039;t - I need the job and $. So please help me!

PS Ive tried soaking in hot water and epsom salts, it don%26#039;t help. The black rubber mats are awesome on sock feet - but I get caught with my shoes off and have to put them back on. WWe also have a shelf under the register to rest our foot on, and that is awesome if you dont have a shoe on - otherwise it hurts like fire. Thanks for your help

sport shoes are not good for standing. you need something with a good arch support, soft soles which give on impact, and plenty of room inside. tight shoes may feel good at first, but extended wear hurts the bone structure and can cause fallen arches, and bone spurs. a loose fitting shoe, which streches to the sides is much better on the feet than something which is firm as sport shoes are. the best kind of shoe for long periods on hard surfaces is an earth shoe. it places the weight towards the back of the foot, not on the arches and toes.

soft leather and soft soles are good as well.
Reply:Another Updatre!

SAS shoes are the best - 2 months and feet do not hurt Report It

Reply:first ...... get MENS shoes... they are much more padded and comfortable... are your arches high? make sure you have proper support for them... the shoes i use have the little air pockets in the soles of the heel and front pad area and do not tie or fasten shoes to tight... better to be a little loose ( and i dont like the doctor scholls insoles because sometimes they make muscles move that you arent used to ( including leg) and that can be very painful
Reply:You need nurses shoes. Specifically ask for them! They make a world of difference! Good luck!
Reply:I work at a factory, and was also in the Army for a couple years. Honestly, if you already have a great pair of shoes, the only thing I can think of is that your body will eventually get used to it. When I started work in the factory, I could hardly get in my car at the end of the day, because I have bad knees as well.

My feet eventually got used to it, you may want to take an Advil or something thirty minutes before work, and then another at lunch break until you get used to it.
