I%26#039;m in 40%26#039;s and this will be my first walking Marathon. I exercise power walk at least one hour a day. I eat healthy and drink only water I feel I can handle it. I have good running shoes. I plan to have a massage after the walk. Any other advice. Thank-You
My first walking Marathon !?
Build up to it, maybe find a half marathon distance you can practice in. Maybe consider joining a training group, like Team in Training or a local social club. Walking marathons is very popular, you could find others to do it with you, bounce ideas off, etc.
Reply:A few high-level recommendations since I%26#039;m not sure what your training was:
-a couple of weeks before your marathon go into taper mode which means no more weights at the gym and reduce the intensity of your walks
-u mentioned you only drink water during your walks, trying drinking an electrolyte drink and eating during your walks (gels, pretzels, gummy bears, etc..)
-have some pasta the night before
-as for your clothes hopefully you are not wearing any cotton clothes as it will chafe and produce blisters
